6 Week Post-Partum Mommy Helper

 

Congratulations on the arrival of your new baby! May you raise him/her in good health and enjoy watching him/her growing up.

Now it is time, while taking good care of your baby, to take care of yourself too.

It is important to exercise, eat right, get enough sleep, care for your psyche, and take care of your body post-pregnancy.

Here are few suggestions for you:

  • ·         Take 30 minutes daily alone or with your partner and disconnect from outside pressure. You can use this time to exercise, relax, read a book, or just vent out. It is important to get into the habit of routine exercise and stay hydrated. Don’t forget to do your daily Kegel exercises, especially if you do any exercise that may cause increased pressure in the pelvic area.
  • ·         Go out of house for 30 minutes or an hour without the baby 1-2 times per week to give yourself a break.
  • ·         Keep Dr. Simhaee’s diet that you used during pregnancy but decrease the amount of food and continue to avoid junk food. You can find this diet online at http://www.simhaeeobgyn.com/healthy-diet/. (will be changed to POST PARTUM DIET)

While you were pregnant and went through childbirth, the extra weight of the baby put pressure on your pelvic muscles. If you gave birth vaginally, then you had even more pressure on the vaginal walls and your pelvic muscles got stretched out even further.
